Prime Minister Narendra Modi Says Article 370 Was Stalling Development In Kashmir

Edited by Hiba Anvar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated and launched many transformative developmental projects worth Rs 32,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir. PM Modi, during his address to the gathering, said that the now-scrapped Article 370 of the constitution has been the main hurdle in the development of the state.

“Because of the abrogation of Article 370, I have asked people to help BJP win 370 seats and NDA win 400 seats in election,” he said.

Talking on the developmental projects, while addressing the gathering in Jammu, he promised that no eligible citizen would miss out on the benefits. He said, “The projects in Jammu and Kashmir will propel holistic development of the region”. The developmental projects include education, railway, aviation, and road sectors.  “A remarkable day for Jammu and Kashmir,” he said after launching multiple projects in JK.

Modi also called the state of Jammu as the victim of dynastic politics for many decades. “Those who practice family politics have always looked only at their interests and have not cared about your interests. If anyone suffers the most from the politics of dynastic politics, it is our youth,” he said.

He further added that there were days when only disappointing news was heard from the state. But now Jammu and Kashmir has moved ahead with the resolve to develop.

Unleashing a scathing attack on Congress, he said that the government whose priority is the welfare of just one family cannot think of the welfare of common people. “I am happy to see Jammu and Kashmir is getting free from dynastic rule… A developed India means a developed Jammu and Kashmir,” Modi said.

PM after referring to the abrogation of Article 370, he further requested the people to help them get 370 seats in Lok Sabha and to help NDA cross 400 seats.

However, Narendra Modi has inaugurated various projects, including AIIMS, Jammu, the world’s highest railway bridge over Chenab, and north India’s first river rejuvenation project- the Devika River project in Udhampur. He has also distributed letters to about 1,500 newly recruited government employees of Jammu and Kashmir and also interacted with the beneficiaries of various schemes as part of the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu’ programme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Jammu on February 20 will be his third public event at the Maulana Azad Stadium since 2013.
