One Day History Will Demand Answers From BJP On Farmers’ Killings: Rahul Gandhi After Sharing Violence Video

The death of the 21-year-old farmer on Wednesday has led to widespread anger across the country. This tragic incident took place during a major escalation of the farmer”s protest which has been going on since February 13 demanding a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed condolences to the young farmer Shubhakaran Singh who was killed during the Khanauri border firing on X.

He further criticized the Modi government’s action against the protesting farmers and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “arrogance” has taken the lives of 700 farmers previously and now once again the BJP has become the enemy of the farmers.

“The news of death of young farmer Subhkaran Singh in firing on Khanauri border is heartbreaking. My condolences are with his family,” Rahul Gandhi wrote on X.
Reminding the ruling party that they will be held responsible for the killing of the farmers in the future, he wrote, “One day history will definitely demand an account of the “killing of farmers” from the BJP which is hiding behind the friendly media”.

A farmer was killed and several were injured on the Punjab-Haryana border as the protestors resumed their ‘Dilli Chalo’ agitation. The Haryana police fired tear gas at the protestors in their attempt to breach barricades at Shambu and Khanauri.

The Farmers resumed their march on Wednesday after the fourth round of talks with the farmers went inconclusive. On the same day, Agricultural Minister Arjun Munda called for further talks and appealed to the protestors to maintain peace.

The farmers have claimed that the Haryana police have fired bullets besides tear gas shells. Amidst the protest, the union cabinet has granted approval for an increase in the fair remunerative price (FRP) of sugarcane to Rs 340 per quintal.

Apart from the Haryana police’s aggression on the march, the central government also issued executive orders demanding the suspension of selected accounts and posts associated with the farmer”s protest on X. And this action has triggered allegations of silencing and suppressing the freedom of speech.
