In the recent development to the Pune Porsche accident case, two doctors of Sassoon General Hospital were arrested for allegedly tampering the evidence. The teen accused in the deadly crash was taken to the Sasson hospital for a medical check-up. The doctors involved in the case was identified as Dr Ajay Taware, head of the forensic department of the hospital and Dr Shrihari Harnor, the chief medical officer of Sassoon.

As per the latest police reports, Dr Taware and De Halnor instructed the entire process. The police has informed that the juvenile”s father contacted Dr Taware to arrange the replacement of the blood samples.

The arrest came after it was discovered that the blood samples of the teen involved in the accident were switched with another person’s blood sample who had not consumed alcohol.

As per the India Today sources, the accused was taken to the hospital at 11 am on the day of the accident, May 19. The Forensic Laboratory (FSL) in their report showed no traces of alcohol in the first sample which raised suspicions.

However, the second test report revealed alcohol in the minor’s system. Later, the DNA test results confirmed that the earlier sample belonged to a different individual. This led to suspicion that the doctors had tampered the samples to protect the accused juvenile.

The Pune crime branch is currently interrogating the doctors who are involved in tampering the crucial evidence.

The Pune car crash case is currently being probed by the crime branch. The doctor’s arrest has come days after an inspector and another official attached to the Yerwada police station were suspended for delayed reporting of the offense and dereliction of duty.

The Pune Porsche car crash has been marred with controversies ever since the beginning with allegations of preferential treatment. The accused teenager who allegedly drove the vehicle drunk, was initially granted bail but was later remanded to observation home until June 5 following public outcry.

Two young IT professionals were killed on the spot after the motorcycle was hit by a speeding Porsche allegedly driven by the minor.

On Saturday last week, the police arrested the grandfather claiming that both the teenager’s father and grandfather put pressure on the family’s driver to take the blame for the accident by offering him money and giving threats.

The family has requested for a Supreme Court-monitored probe and trial, citing concern over the way the case has been handled by the police.
