Pune Teacher Arrested For Allegedly Sexually Harassing 13-Year-Old
In a village in Daund tehsil of Pune, a 42-year-old teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a 13-year-old female student by sending obscene messages on WhatsApp and inappropriately touching her at school.
The Pune Rural police have arrested the teacher along with the headmaster for failing to report the incident to the authorities.

After visiting the girl’s village to verify the facts, the police took a suo moto cognizance of the incident. Pune Rural Police SP Pankaj Deshmukh stated that a case was immediately registered after receiving a formal complaint from the victim’s parents.
Both the headmaster and the Pune teacher have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), said police.
As per the police report, the girl’s father discovered that the teacher had sent an appropriate message to his daughter before August 15.
Though the victim’s father approached the headmaster with his concern, he reportedly ignored the complaint which led to the arrest.
Further investigation into the matter is ongoing and more details are awaited.
A similar incident was reported in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur district on Thursday. The body of a 10-year-old girl was recovered from the sugarcane field, after which her uncle was arrested for alleged rape and murder, a police official had said, reports PTI.
The girl has been missing since Wednesday evening and her parents had filed a missing complaint. The police had said that the body of the minor was spotted by the locals in the morning from the nearby sugarcane field which was just 800 meters away.

The body was sent for medical examination to ascertain the cause of the death. The post-mortem report revealed that the girl was raped and beaten up as they were several bruises all over the body.
The police official has said that the process to arrest was underway on Thursday evening and sections related to rape, murder, and sections of the Pocso Act will be invoked.
