Revenue Dept Serves Notice To Sitapur Masjid To Remove Construction, Threatens Bulldozer Action

Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh: The Revenue Department has served a notice on the Jia-ul-Uloom Mosque, claiming that the mosque was built on government land.

The department has given seven days to voluntarily remove the construction, adding that failing which bulldozer action will be taken. The notice was issued on October 7 by Laharpur Tehsil revenue inspector Sunder Lal Rastogi, giving the management seven days to remove the construction.

The notice references a prior order from the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court. According to the Revenue Department, approximately 0.03180 hectares of the land is officially recorded as government and Gram Sabha property designated for a graveyard. The permanent shops and mosque are being treated as unauthorized encroachment

The notice follows several similar moves against Mosques and Madrasas in Uttar Pradesh.
