The Delhi Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday granted bail to former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and their son Tejashwi Yadav in an alleged land-for-job scam case.

The bail was granted on a personal bond of Rs 50,000. The court posted the matter for a next hearing on October 16 this year, and ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to produce the copies of the chargesheet to the accused, a well-recognised political family from the state of Bihar.

Rabri Devi Yadav was the Chief Minister of Bihar who served the state in three terms and is the first and only woman till date to have held the office. Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is a former professional cricketer who serves as the fifth and current Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar from 2022.

The family appeared before the CBI special court on Wednesday. The central investigation agency accused RJD chief and his daughter Misha Bharati along with wife Rabri Devi for “criminal conspiracy“.

After receiving the bail order the RJD supporters distributed sweets outside the court and raised slogans.

The case against the Yadav family and others involves alleged appointments in the Indian Railways, in return of land. This illicit activity according to police happened when Lalu Prasad Yadav served as the Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009.

As the India Today quotes the CBI chargesheet states, candidates were forced to sold land to the family members of Lalu Prasad Yadav at a discounted rate of one-fourth to one-fifth of the prevailing market rate at that time.

The chargesheet includes names of Railway officials Sowmya Raghvan, Kamal Deep Mainrai, and residents of Vill-Mahjabagh Vill-Bindaul, and Patna City, namely Raj Kumar Singh, Mithlesh Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Dharmendra Kumar, Vikas Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Ravindra Ray, Kiran Devi, Akhileshwar Singh, and Ramashish Singh, India Today reported.

“Hearings keep happening…Have to done anything that we need to be scared about?”, responded the senior RJD leader to media after getting bail from the Delhi court.

According to reports, CBI has filed a fresh chargesheet against Mr Yadav and others on July 3 and noted that “”irregular and illegal”” appointments were traced in Central Railways “”violating norms, guidelines and procedures of railways””.
