'Roads Like Priyanka Gandhi's Cheek': BJP Leader Ramesh Bidhuri's Remark Sparks Outrage

New Delhi: As Delhi assembly elections near, a major controversy erupted on Sunday when AAP MP Sanjay Singh shared a speech by BJP’s Kalkaji candidate, Ramesh Bidhuri, in which the BJP leader was heard making an objectionable remark against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi.

The video shared by the Congress leader showed the BJP leader saying that they would make all the roads in Kalkaji like the “cheeks of Priyanka Gandhi” if the saffron party assumes power.

“Lalu Yadav once famously claimed that he would make the roads of Bihar as smooth as Hema Malini’s cheeks, but he failed to deliver on that promise. I assure you, however, that just as we have transformed the roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, we will ensure that every road in Kalkaji is made as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks,” the BJP leader said at an event in Delhi.

“This is BJP’s candidate; listen to his language; this is BJP’s respect for women. Is the respect of Delhi’s women safe in the hands of such leaders?” wrote the AAP leader, while sharing the BJP candidate’s remark.

Both the Congress and the AAP have started attacking the BJP over the remark against the Congress leader. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate criticised Bidhuri’s comments, calling them “shameful.” She accused the BJP of being extremely anti-women, noting that Ramesh Bidhuri’s statement regarding Priyanka Gandhi showed his disgusting mentality. “What else can be expected from a man who abused his fellow MP in Parliament without facing any punishment?” she wrote on X, asking the BJP leadership to ask for a pardon from the Wayanad MP with folded hands.

Congress leader Pawan Khera, reacting to the BJP leader’s remark, asserted that Bidhuri’s words reflect the values of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Stating that his rudeness doesn’t just show the mentality of this vile man, Pawan Khera said the remark showed the reality of his owners from top to bottom.

After facing backlash, the BJP leader claimed that the Congress had no right to slam him for the remark. “If Congress feels pained by my statement, why didn’t they apologize to Hema Malini? She is a celebrated artist who has brought glory to India. Isn’t Hema Malini a woman? She far surpasses Priyanka Gandhi in achievements,” the BJP leader justified his remark while speaking to reporters.
