BSP Suspends MP Danish Ali For Engaging "Anti-party activity"

Lok Sabha MP Danish Ali, who was in the spotlight after being attacked in parliament with racist remarks, has been suspended from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for engaging in “anti-party activity.”

“You were warned many times against statements or actions against the policies, ideology, and discipline of the party. But, despite that, you have continuously been acting against the party,” the BSP said in a statement. However, Danish Ali is bound to follow party instructions, including voting in parliament in favor of the party”s decision. Danish Ali, who represents the Amroha constituency, has denied any wrongdoing, saying, “I have never done any kind of anti-party work.”.

“I have diligently tried to strengthen the BSP and have never done any kind of anti-party work. The people of my Amroha area are witnesses to this. I have definitely opposed the anti-people policies of the BJP government and will continue to do so. If doing this is a crime, then I have committed a crime, and I am ready to face any punishment for it,” he told the media this evening.

Mr. Ali thanked party chief Mayavati for bestowing on him the Loksabha ticket, saying the decision against him was “unfortunate.” Mr. Ali made headlines after BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri unleashed racist comments against him, and the country witnessed a political row following Bidhuri”s remarks. Congress accused the ruling BJP of making derogatory remarks about minority groups.

Mr. Bidhuri was consequently served with a show cause notice. Mr. Ali also grabbed attention when he staged a one-man protest outside Parliament on Friday supporting Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra, who was expelled from Lok Sabha for engaging in an alleged cash-for-query scam.

Ali was glimpsed with a placard hung around his neck that said, “Don”t turn the victim into the culprit.”.

“Decorum in Parliament died in September. It was bombed when Ramesh Bidhuri made those comments. And now they are saying this? Today, Mahatma Gandhi and Ambedkar are crying,” a visibly upset Ali told news agency ANI.
