Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge slammed the Narendra Modi-led BJP government for their indulgence in self-obsessed promotion. By citing the heavy financial toll incurred over the installation of 3D selfie Booths or 3D selfie points of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at various railway stations across Central railway, Congress chief wrote: “Self-obsessed promotion by Modi Govt knows NO bounds!”

Mallikarjun Kharge on his social media platform X detailed how Modi government has wasted taxpayers money through installation of selfie points. His post was based on a Right To Information (RTI) query filed in this regard. Attaching the RTI reply on the post, he wrote: “Absolutely brazen waste of taxpayers money by installing Modi ji’s 3D selfie points at Railway Stations.”

In October, The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has directed to set up 822 selfie points at prominent locations to showcase various schemes of the Central government. “Earlier, the blood and sacrifice of our brave soldiers was politically used by ordering the Armed Forces to install 822 such Selfie-points with a prominent cut-out of Modi ji,” Congress Chief added.

Continuing further, he stated that Modi government has not provided drought and relief to states, and MGNREGA funds for opposition ruled states are also pending. “But it has the audacity to generously splurge public money on these cheap election stunts!,” he said.

As per the RTI reply, for erecting selfie booths or selfie points of Prime Minister, Rs. 1, 25,000 to Rs. 6,25,000, excluding taxes has been incurred for each installation.
