Swift Action By Bengaluru Passport Office Facilitates Mother's US Journey For Son's Final Rites

Bangalore RTO Issues Passport To Mother Who Lost Son In US

In a heartwarming incident, following the death of a software engineer in the US due to cardiac arrest, his Indian parents in Bengaluru would be able to make it to the USA to perform their son’s final rituals there on time – thanks to the regional passport office. The couple could reach the US despite facing difficulties as Geetha, the mother of the diseased, had validity up to March 2024 when a minimum of six-month validity was mandatory for the couple to visit the US.

However, the Bangalore regional Passport Office’s intervention in reissuing the passport in record time for Geetha made it possible for the parents to take off from Bengaluru today (Wednesday) morning. Both Rangaraju and Geetha had valid visas to stay in the US. RN Kishore, the parent’s relative completed the process for the couple. “My relatives received the news of the shocking death of their son, R Karthik, on Monday morning (December 25) from another relative in the US. Their 43-year-old son, a software engineer, was on a vacation to Colorado with his wife and two young children when he collapsed suddenly and passed away.,” Kishore said to the media.

When the parents made the decision to go to the US and booked their ticket, Geetha found her passport validity issue. However, because Kishore’s friend knew the Bangalore regional passport officer, K Krishna, they contacted the officer, informing him their urgency. The regional officer reissued the passport in record time as the couple reached the RPO at 10 am and left the place by 1pm with the new passport.  “The family was relieved as they had not imagined it would be done so quickly”, Kishore said.

The regional passport officer who proactively made the couple’s journey possible said that their concerns were to provide a caring, supportive and immediate solution to the grieving mother. He also said that this was one of the times they reissued as quickly as possible.
