Uttarakhand: Heavy Rains Create Large Crater On The Approach To Newly Built Dehradun Bridge

New Delhi: Heavy overnight rains has created a large crater at Nanda Ki Chowki near Prem Nagar on the approach to the Rs 16 crore bridge. The bridge by Uttarakhand Public Works Department with NHAI funding had rebuilt after the prior structure collapsed in September 2025.

The large pothole was appeared after the downpour on July 27. Dehradun District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan inspected the site. Chauhan said the bridge itself is undamaged and repairs to the road would restore traffic within three to four hours.

However, though the officials called the incident minor, locals voiced frustration online over the quick failure, questioning construction quality and calling for accountability.

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has shared the video of the pothole on the new bridge, that leads straight to the chief minister’s office. “So, if this isn’t corruption, then what should we call it,” the CJP wrote on X.
