“We Are Fully Committed To The INDIA Alliance: Arvind Kejriwal (screen grab from a video shared by AAP/twitter.com)
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday that the party is fully committed to the INDIA alliance. His statement came in the background of Punjab Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira’s arrest on drug case and the Punjab Congress allegation that AAP in the state is committing a political vendetta against them.
Delhi Chief Minister, then, stresses that drug cases won’t be spared.
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Kejriwal said: “We are fully committed to the INDIA alliance. We will not separate from the alliance under any circumstances.”
Concerning the case, he replied: “I have come to know that the Punjab Police arrested some Congress leader yesterday. I do not have its details; Punjab Police will tell it. But we have waged a war against drugs. I would not like to comment on any individual case or person, but we are committed to end drug addiction. In this war against drugs, no matter how big or small a person is, he will not be spared.”

Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Punjab Police arrested Congress MLA from his Chandigarh residence in connection with a 2015 drug case.
The Punjab Congress severely criticised AAP government over the arrest of Mr Khaira. Punjab Congress senior leader Partap Singh Bajwa said: “I want to condemn Bhawant Mann”s action. Mann thinks he will be in the government forever but he is wrong everyone has to go, and his government will also go,” reports India TV.
As per the alliance plan, AAP and Congress will jointly fight BJP in upcoming general election. Mr. Khaira’s arrest is significant because he was open in his protest against any union with AAP in Punjab. In the previous assembly election in the state, AAP won 92 seats whereas Congress could secure only 18.
