Following the shocking murder of former Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator Abhishek Ghosalker during a Facebook live session, acclaimed movie director Hansal Mehta voiced scathing criticism of Maharashtra”s political circle. The Shahid director lamented the culture of electing individuals with dubious backgrounds, stating, “We legitimised crooks, criminals, gangsters, extortionists, rioters, and ganglords by electing them to power.”
The tragic incident unfolded as Ghosalker was in conversation with the alleged murderer, Mauris Noronha, also known as Mauris Bhai. Reports indicate that Noronha, with whom Ghosalker had personal enmity, subsequently took his own life after fatally shooting Ghosalker in Mumbai”s Dahisar vicinity.
Ghosalker, son of a former Shiv Sena MLA, was rushed to Karuna Hospital in Borivali in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries. The murder comes amidst escalating concerns about law and order in Maharashtra, exacerbated by recent incidents of political violence.
Ghosalker, hailing from a politically influential family with ties to Shiv Sena, had reconciled with Noronha before the fatal encounter during a webcast event at Noronha”s office. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
