Pritish Nandy, a renowned journalist, filmmaker, and poet, passed away at the age of 73 on January 8. The cause of death was reported as cardiac arrest. This sudden demise of the veteran left the country and the media industry in shock.
Expressing their respect and condolences, several celebrities remembered the visionary’s contribution to the country and the film industry.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta expressed his sorrow over the veteran’s passing. Acknowledging his profound contribution and the personal bond the two shared, Mehta wrote, “Sad, sad news. My most personal work has lost one of its greatest patrons. You lived well Mr Nandy. Will miss you terribly. Deepest condolences to the entire family.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, whose film Chameli was produced by Pritish Nandy and his daughter Rangita under their production banner Pritish Nandy Communications, took to her Instagram Stories to share memories from the film’s set. Sharing a shot of one of her interactions with the director, she expressed her condolences with a heartfelt caption of red heart, folded hands, and infinity emojis, reflecting the love and respect she held for him.
Actor Sanjay Dutt also praised the filmmaker and expressed his condolences and wrote, “A true creative genius and a kind soul, you will be missed sir.”

Actor Anupam Kher, in a heartfelt social media post, paid tribute to his dear friend. “Deeply saddened and shocked to know about the demise of one of my dearest and closest friends, Pritish Nandy!” Kher wrote. “He was my support system and a great source of strength in my initial days in Mumbai. We shared so many things in common. He was also one of the most fearless people I had come across.”

Pritish Nandy was not only a celebrated journalist but also hosted a popular talk show, The Pritish Nandy Show, on Doordarshan in the 1990s, where he interviewed several celebrities.
As a film producer, Nandy made a significant impact in the early 2000s with Hindi films like Kaante (2002), Jhankaar Beats (2003), Chameli (2003), and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2003). He also produced the International Emmy nominated web series Four More Shots Please! (2019) and the critically acclaimed Modern Love Mumbai under his banner, Pritish Nandy Communications.
