Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: Bandra Police To Submit Chargesheet By End Of March

Actor Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing case and the follow-up investigations raised concern among the fans across the country. After months of investigation, the Bandra police are now set to submit the chargesheet to the Magistrate Court in Bandra by the end of this month.

According to legal requirements, the chargesheet must be filed within 60 days. The police also stated that they have several positive reports and substantial evidence, which are strong enough to secure a conviction.

According to police sources, a forensic report has confirmed that five fingerprints collected from a duct in the building where Saif Ali Khan resides match those of the accused.

For the unversed, actor Saif was attacked by an intruder on January 16 during an alleged robbery attempt at his residence in Bandra West. The actor was stabbed six times when he tried to confront the intruder from entering into Jeh Ali Khan’s room. He was taken to the Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery. A 2.5-inch knife was removed from his body.

Followed by the investigation, the Bandra police arrested the attacker, Shariful Islam (30), a Bangladeshi national, on January 19. He is currently in judicial custody and has been kept in Arthur Road Jail. The police believe that the case against Shariful Islam is strong enough to convict him for his actions.

Reports also suggest that the chargesheet has over 25 statements. The statements were given by eyewitnesses, Khan’s staffers Eliyamma Philip and Junu, and four other staff members, besides Khan and his actor-wife Kareena Kapoor. Shariful’s acquaintance and employer, Jitendra Pandey and his maternal uncle’s statements have also been recorded by the police.

The cops have also taken a statement from a woman, Khukumoni Jahangir Sheikh from West Bengal, whose mobile phone was stolen by Shariful and used later. As per the police investigation, it was also revealed Shariful’s main motive was purely theft, as he was unaware that the house belonged to Saif Ali Khan.
