Actor Saif Ali Khan, who suffered injuries in a brutal attack at his Mumbai residence, is currently recovering from the tragic incident. Investigations led by Mumbai police found the intruder as Mohammed Shariful Islam, and the accused was arrested by the officials. The tragic incident happened at Saif’s residence, the 11th floor of the Satguru Sharan building. On the night of January 16, the actor, who was in his bedroom with wife Kareena Kapoor, heard a scream around 2:30 am. In his statement to the police, Saif recounted that the scream of their younger son, Jeh’s nanny, woke the couple, and they rushed to the room where they saw the intruder.

The actor saw nanny Eliyama Phillips screaming while Jeh was crying. Saif then tried to stop the intruder and overpower him. But the intruder attacked the actor with a knife, stabbing him several times on his back, neck, and hands.

Suffering with the injuries, Saif reportedly pushed the intruder inside the room as the nanny ran away with their son, Jeh. Despite being injured, he then locked the intruder in the room and saved his family, he told the police.

Saif Ali Khan suffered six injuries, including deep cuts on his neck and back, in the attack. He was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital around 3:30 am. The actor underwent surgery to remove a 2.5-inch knife from his back. The doctors also treated his leaking spinal fluid.

After treatment, the actor was discharged from the Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday and returned to his Bandra apartment. The police are providing temporary protection to Saif, Kareena, and their two kids, Taimur and Jeh. Two constables have been provided to the family to ensure their safety.

The police arrested the intruder, Mohammed Shariful Islam, a Bangladeshi national, on Sunday around 2 am while he was hiding in the mangroves in Thane. The police say that he targeted Saif’s house for a burglary and was not aware of the actor’s celebrity status.
