Idukki Landslide Kills Man, Administration Asks Residents To Evacuate As Risk Remains High
Idukki, Kerala: Following intense downpour, Kerala’s Idukki district on Saturday night witnessed multiple landslides, leading to the death of a man. The Idukki district administration had asked residents to evacuate nearly two days back, anticipating a landslide, saving many from potential risks.
A couple, living in the Adimali village of the district, had come back to collect some documents on the night of Saturday when the tragedy occurred. Following the landslide, the couple was trapped under concrete. Over 5 to 6 houses have been damaged during the tragic incident.

Though the rescue team reached the spot soon, and began the operation along with firefighters, police and locals, they managed to rescue the woman around 3 am. The rescue team found the man dead after pulling him out of the concrete slab.
The woman has been shifted to a local hospital. Notably, the risk for further landslide remains high in the region.
