Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand: Dramatic landslide visuals have been circulating on social media showing sudden cloudbursts triggering flash floods in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi on Tuesday, with several being killed and many feared missing. Horrible videos show landslides and flash floods sweeping away houses and structures of the Dharali village near Harsil in Uttarkashi. The instant flooding has made the Kheer Ganga river overflow, causing huge destruction to the nearby areas.

Officials have confirmed at least four death, and over 50 people are missing during the horrific flash flood, as per the initial report. Footage shows people screaming as water waves swallowed houses. The incident has reportedly caused massive damage to properties. However, the chilling video showed half of Dharali village being washed away in the flash flood and the landslide during the unexpected cloudburst.

The state disaster response team have rushed to the location, and the Uttarakhand government has also roped in the Indian Army for the rescue operation.

Police posted pictures of the destruction while urging people to maintain a safe distance from rivers. Officials said that everyone should maintain a safe distance from the river and ensure that “you, children, and animals are kept at a safe distance from the river.” Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that relief teams are engaged in rescue operations.

Rescue worker includes SDRF, NDRF, district administration, and other related teams and they have been engaging in efforts to save lives and minimise damages in the natural calamity.
