Kannur International Airport welcomed the first Qatar Airways aircraft leased by IndiGo with a traditional water salute during the landing. Kannur International Airport shared this news through X and other social media platforms.


Since the news was shared on social media platforms, several users have praised its initiative and a user commented about leasing Gulf Air,  to ease the travel for expats from north Malabar residing in Bahrain. Earlier this month, It was announced that Qatar Airways is about to lease all nine of its 737-8 aircraft to IndiGo, which will operate them on routes between India and Doha’s Hamad International Airport. The first two aircraft have already been leased, with six more to follow in the coming quarters, subject to regulatory approvals.

The Kannur International Airport (CNN) is India’s smallest airport, providing flights to 18 destinations with 2 airlines in scheduled passenger traffic. The new Qatar Airways aircraft leased by IndiGo will schedule a direct flight from Hamad Airport (DOH) in Doha to CNN. The monthly calendar for the booking sites now shows every direct flight departure from Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Qatar Airways aircraft leased by IndiGo to Kannur Airport.

Indigo Airlines is one of the best domestic airlines which offer flight tickets at an affordable price. This airline hub is situated at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and is considered the largest in India in terms of market share which is 29.7%. It is the world’s largest low-cost and fastest-growing air carrier, as per a study.
