Kerala will celebrate Eid Ul Adha on June 7 as the crescent moon, marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Dul Hijjah was unable to be spotted on Tuesday. The tenth day of Dhul Hijjah is celebrated as Eid Al Adha.

All Arab countries including Saudi Arabia will observe Eid on June 6. The moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia. Thus, the Arafaat day will on fall June 5.

Eid Al Adha, or the “Festival of Sacrifice,” marks the Qur’anic story of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Before the act, God intervened and provided a ram instead. The occasion symbolises faith and devotion and is observed by Muslims worldwide. The festival coincides with the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca.
