
Eid Ul Adha Holidays Announced In These GCC Countries
As Arab countries prepare to celebrate Eid Al Adha, one of the most sacred festivals in Islam, several nations, including Qatar, have announced official public holidays. As per the announcement made by the Ministry, the holidays would begin from the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah.
Recently, Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had approved the Cabinet’s decision on national holidays as published in the country’s official Gazette. As per the directives, all ministries, government agencies, and public institutions across the Gulf nation will observe Eid Al Adha holidays from Dhul Hijjah 9 to 13.

Moreover, the Gazette published also included all public holidays for the year.
In Kuwait, as per the astronomical projections by Al Ojairi Scientific Centre, Eid ul Adha is expected to be observed on June 6. Thus, the Kuwait Cabinet had announced the suspension of work across all government agencies and public institutions from June 5 to 9.
As per the astronomical calculations, Eid Al Adha is expected to fall on June 6 in the UAE. Once the moon is sighted, the UAE authorities would make a formal announcement. Usually, Arafat Day is observed as a public holiday in the UAE.
In the UAE, the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) had announced that Eid Al Adha holidays will be from Thursday, June 5 till Tuesday, June 10. Trading will resume after the holiday on Wednesday, June 11.

Eid Al Adha, or the “Festival of Sacrifice,” marks the Qur’anic story of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Before the act, God intervened and provided a ram instead. The occasion symbolises faith and devotion and is observed by Muslims worldwide. The festival coincides with the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca.
