Congress senior leader Priyanka Gandhi expressed her condolences over the death of writer and film director KJ Baby (aka Kanavu Baby), and said that his conviction and courage in the service of society will remain a guiding light for all of us.

“Shri K.J. Baby Ji’s conviction and courage in the service of society will remain a guiding light for all of us. He never hesitated to fight for what was right and stood up for those who were marginalised throughout his lifetime.

The Congress leader added that the impact of Baby’s work on the social and cultural landscape of Wayanad was immense. “It stands as testimony to the power of art and activism as an agent for social change and upliftment. His work will live on in the hearts of all those whose life he touched. My deepest respect and heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time,” Priyanka wrote in a social media post.

A writer and social activist, Baby had worked for the tribal community in Wayanad, and he was renowned as the voice of the marginalised. After Rahul Gandhi vacated Wayanad and chose Rai Bareilly, Priyanka Gandhi was named as Congress candidate for the upcoming byelection.
