Bihar: 1 Killed, Several Injured As ASI Opens Fire At Villagers
Madhubani, Bihar: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) allegedly opened fire on villagers who gathered outside a house the officer entered under suspicious circumstances in Bihar’s Madhubani district.
The firing resulted in the death of one person and the injuries of at least four others. The officer fired indiscriminately at the crowed gathered outside the house. The victim, 45-year-old Ashok Yadav died on the spot after suffering bullet injury to chest and thigh. Some of the injured are in critical condition.

According to the reports, the ASI, who was posted at a police picket near the Balirajgarh excavation site, had frequently visited the village, allegedly because of an illicit relationship with a woman there.
On Monday night, the police officer reached the Balirajgarh village and entered a house, with alleged wrongful intention. A woman reportedly noticed the officer entering a house, and locked him from outside, raising alarm. The villagers gathered the site, and cornered the officer.

The officer then opened fire at the people. According to the eyewitnesses, the ASI repeatedly fired through a window using his service revolver. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogendra Kumar visited the hospital review the treatment arrangements before inspecting the crime scene.
Police have tightened security in the village to avoid tension. The accused ASI is absconding, and the police have formed a special team to nab him. The police also said the ASI will be suspended and a murder case will be registered against him.
