Malayali Medical Student Killed In Uzbekistan After Fellow Student Hits Her With Laptop

Kerala: Amid altercation, a 22-year-old Kerala medical student in Uzbekistan was killed after fellow student, also from Kerala, hit her with laptop. The student, Savariya, was a native of Pilappuzha in Haripad in Alappuzha, while the accused, Sadharul Anam, 23, is a native of Perinthalmanna in Malappuram.

The authorities in Uzbekistan have arrested the accused fellow student. The incident took place last week, after  a quarrel broke out between the two students. The accused man allegedly struck Savaryia on the head with a laptop, leading to the fatality.

Both the accused and the victim were the students of Bukhara State Medical University inUzbekistan. Savaria had travelled to Uzbekistan in December last year to pursue her medical studies. According to reports, Anam and Savariya were chatting when the accused allegedly became agitated and struck her on the head with a laptop.

Though Anam immediately took her to the hospital after the assault, she was declared dead on arrival. After the hospital informed the police, the officials took Anam into custody. Savaria’s body was brought to India and reached New Delhi today. She is survived by her father, mother and younger brother.
