NMC Warns Students Against Admission To 4 Foreign Medical Institutes In Belize And Uzbekistan

In a recent notice, the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) under National Medical Commission (NMC) has warned Indian students to take admission to UG medical colleges in four institutes in Belize and Uzbekistan.

The decision was taken after the Indian Embassy in Mexico and Eurasia under the Ministry of External Affairs highlighted serious concerns about the medial institutes for the lack of complaince with Indian medical education standards, inadequate or non-existent university campus infrastructure, poor quality of educational and clinical training facilites, instances of harassment of Indian students, excessie fees and denial of fee refunds upon withdrawl from the course.

The four medical institutions include

  1. Central American Health and Science University, Belize
  2. Columbus Central University, Belize
  3. Washington University of Health and Sciences, Belize
  4. Chirchik Branch of Tashkant State Medical University, Uzbekistan

NMC had cautioned medical students that any deviation from the duration of the course, medium of instruction, syllabus and curriculum, clinical training, and intership may result in disqualification of the students from obtaining registration in India.

However, some Indian students continue to seek admission to foreign medical colleges which do not meet the essential standards prescribed under FMGL Regulations, 2021.

Students and their parents are advised to read the alert/advisory uploaded on the NMC website dated May 19, 2025, before seeking admission to any foreign medical institute or university. The advisory contains critical information about the recognised institutions, eligibility criteria, and other important guidelines.
