The Cheranalloor police took the 17-year-old minor into custody from the spot and impounded the vehicle. The incident has sparked outrage as it occurred weeks after another high-profile fatal crash in Kochi involving a speeding Mini Cooper that claimed three young lives.
Police have registered an RIR under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The families of the victim has alleged that the judge dismissively told them not to question him when they asked the Additional Judge about allowing his minor son to drive without a license.
