Thrissur Wins Kerala School Kalolsavam Trophy After 25 Years, Palakkad Bags Second Place.

The 63rd State School Arts Festival came to a thrilling conclusion on Wednesday with the Thrissur district emerging as the winner of the gold cup. Thrissur district scored 1008 points, narrowly defeating Palakkad, which scored 1007 points.

The announcement was received with cheers and excitement from the large crowd gathered at the central stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Students from Thrissur celebrated their victory by breaking into impromptu dances on the ground.

This is Thrissur’s first gold cup win in 25 years, with their last victory coming in 1999 at the Kollam school festival. In the high school category, Thrissur and Palakkad were tied at 482 points, but Thrissur’s higher secondary students secured the win with 526 points, compared to Palakkad‘s 525.

Kannur, last year’s winners, came in third with 1003 points, while Kozhikode, which had held the crown for 21 years, finished fourth with 1000 points.

In the school category, Palakkad’s Alathoor BSG Gurukulam Higher Secondary School secured the first position with 171 points, followed by Thiruvananthapuram’s Carmel Higher Secondary School and Idukki’s MKNMHS school.

The closing ceremony will be attended by Education Minister V. Sivankutty, who will present prizes to the winners. Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan will inaugurate the event, with film stars Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali as guest attendees on Wednesday.
