LDF independent MLA PV Anvar has put the government in a tight spot on Sunday by raising allegation against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s political secretary P Sasi and ADGP (law and order ) M R Ajith Kumar. During a press conference held in Malappuram, two-term MLA from Nilambur launched a scathing attack against the officials and accused them for betraying the faith incurred in them by the LDF government.
The allegations has put the Home Department, helmed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in a difficult situation and prompted to announce a high-level investigation on Monday. “A top police officer will investigate the matter”, he asserted.
Meanwhile, Nilambur MLA submitted an application to the District Collector, Malappuram, for a gun licence and told the media that he could manage with licensed gun and no need of armed police escort. Besides, pointing Ajith Kumar’s house under construction at Kowdiar in Thiruvananthapuram, MLA has also urged the government to conduct an investigation to determine the source of income for constructing such a residence on land of such high value.

In the press meet on Sunday, Anvar called Ajith Kumar a “notorious criminal” and argued that IPS officer seems to have taken Dawood Ibrahim as his role model. He stated that he would risk death to tell chief minister the truth. He has also alleged IPS officer for ordering phone taps on ministers, and politicians. “He (Ajith Kumar) has an assistant at the cyber cell to leak the phone calls of ministers and politicians,” Anvar alleges.
Besides, he made allegations against S Sujith Das IPS, the police chief of Pathanamthitta district. He stated that when Das was serving as the SP in Malappuram, the police had raided several gold smuggling rackets outside the Kozhikode airport.
Anvar claims that Das has links in the Customs department. At the airport, Customs officers will not take action even if gold concealed is discovered. They will give the information to police waiting outside. Police will chase them and capture the gold. “Among the captured gold, a large portion will be taken away by police and rest will be handed over to the Customs officers. This was their modus operandi and Sujith Das was controlled by Ajith Kumar,” he added.
Businessman-turned politician Anvar also made shocking revelations about missing of Mami, a trader from Kozhikode. “A year ago a businessman named Mami went missing from Kozhikode. I think he was murdered. Everything is related to gold smuggling through Kozhikode airport,” Indian Express reports as Anvar is saying.
Continuing further, left-backed legislator also raised allegations against Sasi, political secretary and close confidante of Chief Minister. Sasi has failed to undertake his responsibilities political secretary, Anvar claims. Sasi overlooked the red flags that should have informed the government and the CPI(M) to Ajith Kumar’s alleged “wrongdoings, criminality, corruption,” he added.
Anvar stated that he was leading a sting operation, wherein he secretly recorded telephone conversations with officers to unveil the scheme against the government. MLA then released a audio clip in which Sujith Das is heard pleading with the former to withdraw the petition involving the illegal felling of trees on the Malappuram SP camp office premises as he is already exhausted with in dealing issues related to the the custodial death of Jiffri, a suspected drug peddler, in Tanur police station in the Malappuram district in May 2024.

He has also played a telephone recording in which a “ranking officer” stated that IAS officer’s “bonding” with Political Secretary allowed the ADGP “to exert a stranglehold over the police force and act with impunity.” MLA also claims that he is in ownership of audio clips of conversation between Ajith Kumar’s wife and brother, which also had a third person on the other end and stated it to be gold smuggler.
Anvar held that police had derailed the Life Mission housing project. “The police have derailed LIFE Mission housing project for the poor in Malappuram by cracking down on minimal excavation of laterite for making bricks. In Arikode, the police slapped non-bailable charges on CPI(M) workers who prevented miscreants from disrupting the Navakerala Sadas meeting,” the Hindu quotes as MLA is saying.
