Why Kerala HC Orders FIR Against Ex-CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Daughter, Son-In-Law
New Delhi: The Kerala High Court on Friday, October 9, ordered state law enforcement to register a First Information Report (FIR) against former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The probe order was also made against Vijayan’s daughter T Veena, and his son-in-law and former minister P A Mohammed Riyas under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
A single Bench of Justice A Badharudeen passed the order, allowing a writ petition filed by public activist Advocate KM Shahjahan.
What Is The Case?
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing allegations that Veena’s firm, Exalogic Solutions, received illegal payments of around Rs 2.78 crore from Kochi-based Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL).
CMRL is a Kochi-based minerals and chemicals company operating in Kerala’s mineral-sand sector. Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation, a state enterprise, is one of the shareholders in the entity. The episodes allegedly took place when the CPI(M) government was in power.
