2024 Lok Sabha Elections: AAP Will Contest Alone In Punjab; Setback To INDIA Bloc

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday that the party will go solo in Punjab for all 13 Lok Sabha seats and one in Chandigarh. The announcement comes as another jolt of setback for INDIA alliance, signaling the advancing drifts in the grouping.

It was while addressing a public event organised for the “doorstep delivery” of ration under the National Food Security Act of the Punjab government, AAP chief made this significant pronouncement. He sought people”s blessings for the victory of his candidates.

“In the next 10-15 days, AAP will declare its candidates in a in all of these 14 seats. You [supporters] have to make AAP sweep all these 14 seats with majority,” Times of India quotes as Arvind Kejriwal is saying.

Continuing further, AAP chief lauded the good work done by the Bhagwant Mann government in the past two years. Attacking the rival parties, Congress and Akali Dal, he said: “The Congress ruled (the state) for so many years in the past 75 years. If I ask you to tell me one good work the Congress has done, you will not be able to remember. If I ask you for one good thing that Akali Dal had done, you will not remember,” NDTV quotes as Arvind Kejriwal is saying.

In January, Punjab Chief Minister and AAP leader Bhagwant Mann has also said that the party would contest Lok Sabha elections alone and dismissed an alliance between the AAP and Congress in the state

AAP”s current announcement also gives a heavy blow to the Opposition Congress-led INDIA alliance, after Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee”s declaration that her party will go solo in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls, and Janata Dal (United) President Nitish Kumar shifted allegiance to PM Modi-led NDA in last month.
