Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released its Punjab candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The party has announced Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal for Amritsar, Laljit Singh Bhullar for Khadoor Sahib, Sushil Kumar Rinku for Jalandhar, Gurpreet Singh GP for Fatehgarh Sahib, Karamjeet Anmol for Faridkot, Gurmeet Singh Khudian for Bathinda, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer for Sangrur and Dr Balbir Singh for Patiala.

Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP is contesting the general elections in Punjab as part of Opposition alliance. The list has included five cabinet ministers, a sitting MP, a former Congress MLA, and a Punjab artiste who is considered close to Bhagwant Mann.

The party has fielded Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh in Patiala and he will take on incumbent member of Parliament Perneet Kaur who will contest the election on a BJP ticket. Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian will contest from Bathinda.

Soon after the party declared its candidate list Dr Balbir Singh, candidate from Patiala said that he is deeply thankful to his idol and political guru Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann for entrusting him with the task of contesting the Lok Sabha election from Patiala. “As a dedicated soldier of the party, it’s a privilege and an honor to carry the flag of the struggle for justice and liberty during these trying times for the country. I assure the party leadership and the people of Patiala that I will leave no stone unturned in the service of the country, state & party,” he added.

The AAP has launched its party campaign in Punjab for the Lok Sabha elections and urged people to ensure his party wins all 13 Lok Sabha seats to make the state ‘Rangla’. The party in February announced that they would pick candidates for all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and 1 in Chandigarh. While speaking at an event Kejriwal seeking victory in all 13 seats said “We do not need these seats for ourselves. These are to work more for your family and to make your family more prosperous. To make Punjab ‘Rangla’, we need 13 states”.
