After the successful seat-sharing deal with Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief had announced that he would join Rahul Gandhi in the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yathra. As announced, the SP chief joined the Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Agra.
After several bottlenecks, the seat-sharing talk was finalised recently, sealing the Congress-SP alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Priyanka Gandhi who is learnt to have played a role in finalizing the seat-sharing talks has also joined the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra today. The seat-sharing discussion reached an agreement in which out of total 80, Congress party would contest 17 seats while leaving the rest of 63 seats for SP and other INDIA bloc members.
During the rally today, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said that the biggest challenge in the days to come is to save democracy and the constitution. Both have to be protected to fulfil the dreams of Dr Br Ambedkar, which have been ruined by the BJP, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister was heard saying at the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, in a video shared by the news agency ANI.
The video released by the Congress shows the three leaders waving their hands to thousands of the people throned along the way. The flags of both the Congress party and the Samajwadi party stood hand in hand in a cheerful election manifestation. The development is viewed as a significant leap for the INDIA bloc.
However, to pursue its objective further, the Congress party that failed to woo the Trinamool Congress (TMC) due to the complexities in the seat-sharing discussion, is actively trying to reach out to the TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, according to reports. By reducing its aspiration, the Congress now seems to strengthen the alliance to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
TMC chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had not joined the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra when it passed through her state.
