Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha Election Results: Chhatra Pal Singh Of BJP Remains On Top

The BJP candidate Chhatra Pal Singh Gangwar is entrusted with the critical task of maintaining the constituency that the BJP secured with Santosh Gangwar in the past two terms. Singh has served as minister of state for revenue in Uttar Pradesh. He was a member of the 17th Uttar Pradesh Assembly from the Baheri. According to the affidavit, Chhatra Pal Singh Gangwar faces two pending serious criminal cases.

The former Member of Parliament from Bareilly, Praveen Singh Aron, is the Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate for the constituency. He is an experienced politician and was previously a member of the Indian National Congress. In 2009, he won the Lok Sabha election from Bareilly on a Congress ticket and has served as an MLA twice from the same constituency. He is also a practising lawyer with experience in various High Courts, including the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India.

Bareilly is a general category seat, historically dominated by the BJP, but the SP has been showing growth in recent elections by increasing its vote share. In the 2014 election, BJP’s Santosh Kumar emerged victorious with 5,18,258 votes, while SP’s Ayesha Islam received 2,77,573 votes. However, in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, BJP’s incumbent Santosh Gangwar faced competition from SP’s Bhagwat Saran Gangwar. Santosh won the seat with 565,270 votes, while Bhagwat Saran received 3,97,988 votes. The current SP candidate gathered 74,206 votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
