BJP’s Kirti Vardhan Singh Wins Gonda With A Margin Of 46,224 Votes

In Gonda Lok Sabha constituency, Kirti Vardhan Singh of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the seat with a winning margin of 46,224 votes and secured a total of 4,74,258 votes. Whereas Shreya Verma of the Samajwadi Party (SP) came second securing a total of 4,28,034 votes.

Kirti Vardhan Singh is the incumbent from the Gonda constituency. He is locally renowned as Raja Bhaiya and was a member of the 12th and 14th Lok Sabha from Gonda, Uttar Pradesh as a Samajwadi Party candidate. In March 2014, he resigned from the SP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, again from Gonda.

Kirti Vardhan Singh is known to be an environmental activist. In July 2018, he won a case against the state government of Uttar Pradesh in the Green Tribunal, in a case pertaining to illegal sand mining by gangs in his constituency.

In the Lok Sabha elections 2019, Kirti Vardhan Singh won with a total of 5,07,276 votes. The runner-up was Vinod Kumar Alias Pandit Singh of the Samajwadi Party. In 2014 also, Kirti Vardhan Singh represented the constituency on behalf BJP.
