Congress veteran Brijendra Singh Ola defeated Shubhkaran Choudhary in the race for Jhunjhunu Lok Sabha seat. Shubhkaran Choudhary is a BJP politician and former MLA of Udaipurwati in the Rajasthan assembly election.

Brijendra Singh Ola, reclaimed the seat from BJP’s Narendra Kumar in Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan. He has been involved in the political scenario for years. He had also become the minister of Transport and Road Safety in Rajasthan.

BJP has managed to increase the vote share in the last two terms in the constituency. BJP believed the seat to be a stronghold for the Party. This time, however, it turned out to be a tough competition between BJP and Congress in the constituency.

Bijendra Singh Ola garnered 5,53,168 votes with 49.44 percent of total votes polled in the constituency. His success is registered with a majority of 18,235 votes. Meanwhile, Shubhkaran Choudhary was a good competitor in the constituency, having bagged a good number of votes into his account. He gained 534,933 votes, which narrowed the margin of Brijendra Singh Ola’s victory.

The unending skirmish between different parties with caste dominance was a major headache for the parties. The steady challenge between BJP and Jat community, raising opposition against the Agneepath scheme and the wrestlers’ protest against Brij Bhushan Singh as well as the farmers protest were the major challenges that BJP had to hurdle.

The Congress had bagged six out of eight seats in the assembly election while BJP managed to garner only two seats in the assembly segments that fall under the Jhunjhunu constituency. Lok Sabha 2024 elections took place on April 19, across 8 legislative assemblies. The Lok Sabha election 2024 recorded a voter turnout of 52.93%.
