Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday attacked the TMC ruled-West Bengal government over Sandeshkali incident and said it is a “matter of shame”. Addressing a public rally in West Bengal”s Arambagh, Prime Minister stated that the entire country is reeling with anger.
Referring to TMC”s slogan, “Maa, Maati, Manush” (Mother, Land, and People), the Prime Minister said that the entire country is sad and enraged over what TMC has done with the sisters of Sandeshkhali. The soul of social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy must have been hurt by what happened in Sandeshkhali, he added.

“A Trinamool leader crossed all limits of audacity with women in Sandeshkhali and when they spoke up and sought help from Mamata Didi, she and the Bengal government did everything in their power could to shield him. It was because of pressure from the BJP leaders, who fought for the women and even braved assaults on their behalf, that the Bengal Police was forced to arrest the accused yesterday,” NDTV quotes as PM Modi is saying.
The Prime Minister has also urged the people of West Bengal to answer every injury with their vote.
Continuing further, the PM Modi in sharp words attacked INDIA alliance leaders. He stated that leaders of the alliance have shut their eyes, ears and mouth, just like Gandhi”s three monkeys. They holds meeting at different places, but “did the Left or the Congress dare to seek any answers from the chief minister or the Bengal government?”, NDTV reports as the Prime Minister is saying.
He has also accused that for INDIA bloc, their sole aim is to support people “who believe in corruption and the politics of appeasement and dynasty.”
The Sandeshkhali island in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district has been witnessing unrest as the women in the region have been fighting against alleged sexual atrocities and land grabbing committed against them by TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh and his two associates, Uttam Sardar and Shibu Hazra. Shahjahan, who had been on the run for the past 55 days, was arrested by the Police on Thursday morning. Following his arrest, TMC suspended him from the party for six years. Earlier, the BJP has accused the West Bengal government and the TMC of “protecting” Shahjahan from arrest.
