Ex-AIUDF Hafiz Rashid Chowdary, Congress Candidate From Karimganj (image-facebook/Adv Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury)Congress party has fielded Hafiz Rashid Chowdhury as its candidate from Karimganj constituency. The Karimganj District Congress Committee wrote to the party’s high command suggesting the name of Hafiz Rashid. The Congress candidate has expressed his confidence in winning the Lok Sabha seat. Hafiz Rashid is a renowned advocate.
Hafiz Rashid Chowdhury is a former AIUDF leader. He took the Congress membership in 2023. Meanwhile, some of the office bearers expressed their disagreement with fielding Hafiz. They burnt the effigy of the Congress leader in front of the Congress Bhawan and they alleged that the party had surrendered before the ruling BJP candidate Kripanath Mallah.
The party has taken disciplinary action against them and even asked them to stay away from all sorts of campaign and party works. Meanwhile, Hafiz ruled out all the allegations and said that it was a pre-planned conspiracy against the party before the poll.
Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Chowdhury, who joined the Congress party, slammed the BJP and condemned AIUDF President Badruddin Ajmal for doing communal politics. He after joining the Congress party is the guardian of democracy and the BJP is the destroyer of democracy.
Rakib Hussain was included in the second list of candidates list of Congress.
Dhubri constituency is dominated by Muslims and is represented by All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal Qasmi. Dubri used to be a Congress stronghold but Badruddin Ajmal won from the constituency in 2009, 2014 and 2019.
