Former Indian Cricketer Ambati Rayudu Joins YSRCP

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu joined the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) today (Wednesday). Rayudu retired from all forms of cricket after the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. He has played for Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad in the home cricket matches. He retired from international cricket in 2019 after he was dropped out of the 2019 World Cup.

“I had some issues with the member of the selection committee when I was playing with them in the early stages of my career, which might be one of the reasons why I was out of the team in World Cup 2019,” ABP news quoted Rayudu saying the reasons for not picking him for the match.

After retiring from cricket, he had told the media that he may join politics. “I shall soon enter politics in Andhra Pradesh to serve the people. Before that, I decided to visit different parts of the district to know the people’s pulse and understand their problems,” he said when he was visiting Mutluru village in June this year.

However, Rayudu joined the YSRCP at the CM office in the capital city, Amravati in the presence of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

A video of the welcoming program at the chief minister’s office was shared on the official social media page of the party.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Narayana Swamy and MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy and Jagan Mohan Reddy welcomed the former cricketer to the party.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the party shared the information and wrote: “Famous Indian cricketer Ambati Tirupati Rayudu joined the YSR Congress Party in the presence of Chief Minister Shri YS Jagan at the CM Camp office. Deputy CM Narayana Swamy and MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy participated in this program.”

However, there are also speculations that the Rayudu would contest the upcoming general election
