Mrinank Singh, cricketer-turned-conman, has an interesting life story to narrate surpassing famed con-artist movies. The 25 year-old previously was a U-19 cricketer for Haryana. His fascination towards luxury lifestyle posed the young cricketer to operate as conman. Mrinank Singh presenting himself as an IPL cricketer belong to Mumbai Indians team, used this fake identity to cheat luxury hotels, international brands, and people especially women. He even duped India”s wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant as well.

The impersonation of “popular” cricketer figure, assisted Mrinank Singh in influencing women, and dine in fancy restaurants and hotels without paying bills. In 2022, he stayed at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi, and left the place tricking them with this fake identity. The police had also come to notice that he cheated cricketer Rishabh Pant of Rs. 1.63 crore in 2020-2021. His victims included cab drivers as well.

To escape police arrest, he kept his phone switched off and left the places without any traces. Besides, he entertained a backup identity as an IPS officer from Karnataka which helped him from getting caught. Police issued a lookout notice against Mrinank Singh and he was took into custody at the immigration office of the Delhi airport on December 25, while he was trying to escape to Hong Kong. He attempted to escape arrest by misleading immigration officials by posing IPS officer identity. The police reports that several cases have been lodged against him in different states.  He has been sent to a two-day police custody and investigation is progressing.
