It Was Gujarat in 2012 And Manipur In 2023; Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin's Strong Hit On Modi Govt Through His New Podcast Series

Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin launched his new podcast series “Speaking for India”, on Monday. In it he accused BJP of using “religion as a weapon to hide all their shortcomings”.

“They [BJP] are inciting the fire of religious sentiments of people and basking in the warmth of its fiery flames”, said Mr Stalin on the podacst. Since Stalin has been pushing for a united Opposition to take on the BJP with Congress, his views on national issues will also be articulated through the podcast series.

The podcast, projected as “voice from the south” appears to be Stalin”s attempt to assert his party’s presence in the Opposition’s newly formed INDIA bloc as well as a counterblast to the Bharatiya Janata Party”s 9 year long government.

“In 2002, BJP sowed the seeds of violence and hatred in the state of Gujarat. In 2023, the sectarian fire ignited in the northeastern state of Manipur saw the state burn. In Haryana, the fire of religious fanaticism is taking lives and property of innocent people”, Mr Stalin said in strong voice.

He began the first episode stating the purpose as, “I Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin, As the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu”, and the leader of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the third largest party in the Indian Parliament, and most importantly, as someone who is among you, want to speak for India.

The podcast is produced by Populous Empowerment Network (PEN), an organisation that manages the DMK’s political affairs and outreach programs, founded by Mr Stalin’s son-in-law Sabareesan.

“Speaking for India” is also a counter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi”s Mann Ki Baat. It is a monthly radio program of the PM where he interacts with citizens of India on themes and issues that matters to the Nation.

The podcast is translated and released in multiple languages including Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil.

He listed out BJP”s election promises when they came to power in 2014, and stated they have failed to fulfill it especially with regards to the people welfare schemes.

The launch of “Speaking for India” was announced by Mr Stalin on Thursday August 31, where he announced as the podcast will focus in how BJP has destroyed the country and how egalitarian and harmonious it would look.

“It has come a rudderless model, and there are no tall claims about the once-famous Gujarat model either, especially after we listed the achievements of the Dravida Model in Tamil Nadu with statistical proofs”, said Mr Stalin.

He called people, to put an end to the BJP rule in India right now as no one can save the country and its citizens if the rule continues. He urged for an India with diversity, federalism, and democracy.

“We have formed the INDIA Alliance to restore such an India. It is this INDIA alliance that is going to save India. If we want to prevent the whole of India from becoming Manipur and Haryana, which, unfortunately, fell victim to BJP”s communal politics, and hare-inciting policies, the INDIA alliance must win”, he added.

Mr Stalin also accused the federal government for damaging the basic structure of India, and destroying the sense of unity that Indians have cherished and protected for so long.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party is trying to damage the basic structure of India, and destroy the sense of unity that Indians have cherished and protected for so long”, he said.

“The welfare of the entire country has been reduced to the welfare of a few. Government-owned Air India has now been privatised… Airports and ports all over India are going into the hands of private organisations. While Prime Minister Modi”s promise to double the income of farmers is far from fulfilled, the living standards of the poor and downtrodden haven”t become better either”, Mr Stalin remarked.
