JP Nadda To Resign As BJP Chief; To Be Made Cabinet Minister In NDA 3.0

JP Nadda will be added to the new cabinet to be sworn in today, and following this he will be resigning as BJP chief, reports said. Jagat Prakash Nadda, widely known as JP Nadda has been a significant figure in Indian politics as the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Nadda, whose political career began in student politics as an active member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), took the responsibility of BJP’s national leadership from Amit Shah in 2020.

The party has not names his replacement yet.

Born on December 2, 1960, in Patna, Bihar, Nadda’s political journey has been marked by a steady ascent through the ranks, characterized by his organizational acumen, strategic insight, and deep-rooted commitment to the party’s ideology.

Nadda’s father Dr. Narain Lall Nadda, was a renowned academician. He pursued his early education at St. Xavier’s School in Patna before moving to Himachal Pradesh for higher studies. He completed his Bachelor’s degree from Patna University and earned a law degree from Himachal Pradesh University. His academic background laid a solid foundation for his future in politics.

He had served as the ABVP’s national secretary.

His work in Himachal Pradesh earned him significant recognition within the BJP. He was elected to the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1993 and was re-elected in 1998 and 2007. During his tenure, he held various important positions, including the Minister of Health and Family Welfare in the Himachal Pradesh government, where he made notable contributions to the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

Nadda’s national prominence grew when he was appointed as the BJP’s national general secretary in 2010. His organizational skills were evident during the 2014 general elections, where he played a crucial role in strategizing and mobilizing support, contributing to the BJP’s landmark victory. In the first Narendra Modi government, Nadda was heath minister.

In January 2020, Nadda was unanimously elected as the BJP National President, succeeding Amit Shah. Under his leadership, the party continued to expand its influence across India.

During his tenure as BJP President, Nadda steered the party through significant electoral battles, including state assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Assam among others.

JP Nadda is married to Mallika Nadda, a professor and social worker, and they have two sons.
