Alok Mishra is the Congress (INC) candidate from the Kanpur Lok Sabha Constituency while Kuldeep Bhadauriya has been fielded as the BSP candidate.
Ramesh Awasthi
Ramesh Awashti, who had worked as a journalist and an anchor for over three decades, chose Kanpur as his work station when he joined the politics. Awasthi obtained MA, MPhil, and LLB degree from Badri Vishal Degree College and subsequently worked in Sahara Samay. Ramesh Awasthi”s political journey has been remarkable as he transitioned from a local organizer of the Mango festival to a Lok Sabha contestant. Awasthi has organized the biggest ‘India Mango Festival’ in Delhi. Ramesh Awasthi and his family had an association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Reportedly, Awasthi has been directly supported by PM Modi for stepping into the political arena. PM Modi has also joined the roadshow organized in the Kanpur Lok Sabha Constituency. The roadshow for the BJP candidate attracted a huge crowd as two famous Bhojpuri actresses Akshara Singh and Monalisa participated in the election campaign for Awasthi. The BJP Kanpur candidate is allegedly spending the highest amount on election campaigning.
