As the Lok Sabha election results are about to be declared today, the Assam constituencies that are awaiting the final results today are Kaziranga, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Darrang-Udalguri, Diphu, Karimganj, Silchar, Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Guwahati.

The three phases of the Assam Lok Sabha elections 2024, were held on April 19, April 26, and May 7. According to the reports, the voter turnout in the three phases reached an unprecedented high as it had recorded 81.56%. This had surpassed the previous record set in the state five years prior.

In this election, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) contested in all 14 seats. Of those, the BJP is contesting in 11 seats, and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United Peoples’ Party Liberal (UPPL) in two seats and one seat, respectively. On the other hand, Congress, a part of the 16-party United Opposition Forum Assam (UOFA), contested in 13 seats and Assam Jatiya Parishad in a seat. The All India Democratic Front (AIUDF) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) contended for three and two seats.

In the first phase of polls held on April 19, the state recorded a 78.25% turnout to decide the fate of 35 candidates for the Kaziranga, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur and Lakhimpur constituencies.

In the second phase, a turnout of  81.17% was recorded in Karimganj, Silchar (SC), Diphu (ST), Nagaon, and Darrang-Udalguri.

An estimated 81.71% exercised their franchise in the third and final phase held in Dhubri, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, and Guwahati.

The BJP-led NDA is expected to win 12 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats, Congress to win one seat while AIUDF is set to win one seat in Assam, according to the ETG Lok Sabha exit polls released on Saturday, June 2.

The state’s electoral rolls have registered over 2.45 crore individuals, with nearly an equal number of male and female voters. Additionally, 404 voters from the third gender have been enrolled in Assam.

As the counting of the Assam Lok Sabha election 2024 begins, the report says that the BJP has secured 5 and the Congress has secured 3 seats in the constituencies. And Gaurav Gogoi in Jorhat constituencies has seen leading.
