Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: BJP Candidate Soumendu Adhikari Won The Kanthi Seat

Soumendu Adhikari won the Lok Sabha Election 2024 from the Kanthi Lok Sabha constituency with a total of 47,764 votes. The TMC candidate Tapas Roy remained at second place in this election in the Kanthi seat.

Kanthi Lok Sabha constituency was represented by the TMC since 1999, except in 2004, in which CPI emerged victorious in the constituency. Since 2009, Sisir Kumar Adhikari the Trinamool Congress veteran leader has been winning the Kanthi parliamentary seat.

In 2019, Sisir Adhikari won the Kanthi constituency with 49.98% votes while BJP candidate Debasish Samant secured 42.14% votes. The CPI (M) candidate Paritosh Pattyanayak got only 5.35% votes. One remarkable feature of the election result was a significant rise in BJP’s vote share. The BJP candidate registered a rise of 33.54% in his election share.

In the 2014, general elections the TMC candidate Sisir Kumar Adhikari won 52.80 percent votes whereas the CPI (M) candidate came second with an overall 34.72% votes. The BJP candidate Kamalendu Pahari got 8.60 % votes.

In 2009, the Trinamool representative secured 54.95% votes, whereas the CPI (M) candidate’s vote share was 42.47% and BJP Amalesh Mishra secured only 2.84% votes.

Uttam Barik is the Trinamool Congress sitting MLA from Patashpur who was fielded from Kanthi Lok Sabha constituency against BJP candidate Soumendu Adhikhari.
