In the Lok Sabha seat of Maharashtra, Sandipanrao Bhumre won by securing 476,130 votes. He won by defeating his opponent Chandrakant Khaire with a vote margin of 134,650 votes.
Shiv Sena leader Sandipanrao Bhumre is a member of the legislative assembly. He has represented the Paithan assembly constituency.
Chandrakant Khaire is the Shiv Sena (UBT)’s candidate from the constituency. This was the Shiv Sena leader’s last election. He was previously elected four times from the constituency in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014. He has also served as the cabinet minister in the Maharashtra state government from 1995 to 1999 in the Shiv Sena government.
The lok Sabha constituency which has recently undergone a name change will see a repeat of the fight witnessed in 2019. Owaisi’s AIMIM leader Imtiyaz Jaleel was one of the main challengers of Khaire.
The constituency was earlier known as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar and it is the fifth most populous urban area in Maharashtra.
Excluding the 1998 election, Shiv Sena has been successful in winning the Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat consecutively from 1989 to 2014.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Chandrakant Khaire defeated Congress candidate Suresh Nitin Patil by receiving 520,902 votes. While Suresh received 358,902 votes.
However, in the 2019 election, Imtiaz Jaleel of AIMIM won the seat with 389,042 votes. Jaleel defeated Khaire by a margin of 4,492 votes. Khaire was only able to secure the fourth place with 91,790 votes.
The Maha Vikas Agadhi has toppled the exit poll results and has won from the state sweeping majority of the seats.
