Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: TMC's Sudip Bandhopadhyay Wins His Sixth Term In Lok Sabha From Kolkata Uttar

Sudip Bandyopadhyay has won the Lok Sabha Election 2024 from Kolkata Uttar Lok Sabha constituency against BJP candidate Tapas Roy with a total of 92,560 vote margin.
Sudip Bandyopadhyay contest the Lok Sabha election 2024 for the sixth term in the lower house. Earlier, Mr Bandyopadhyay was an MLA since 1991. The five-time TMC MP has been a part of various committees and chaired them also. In 2017, Sudip Badyopadhyay’s name was also got associated with the Ponzi Scheme.
Since 2009, the Kolkata Uttar seat has been won by Sudip Bandopadhyay consecutively. In 2019, the TMC MP secured a total of 49.96% votes to get the Kolkata Uttar seat whereas the BJP candidate Rahul Biswajit Sinha secured 36.59% votes. The CPI (M) candidate got 7.48% votes.
In 2014, the TMC candidate secured 35.94% of the total voter turnout in Kolkata Uttar, While the BJP candidate’s vote share was 25.88%. The CPI (M) candidate Rupa Bagchi secured 20.50 percent votes which was nearly 13% above her 2019 election result.
In 2009, the vote share of Sudip Bandyopadhyay was the highest at 52.50% while the CPI (M) candidate’s vote share was 40.05 percent. The BJP candidate Tathagata Roy secured only 4.22% votes.
