Manoranjan To Stamp CPI(M) In Barpeta

Manoranjan Talukdhar, the incumbent Member of the Legislative Assembly is fielded in the CPI(M) ticket in the Lok Sabha election 2024. CPIM marked its significant political development to secure a victory has fielding Manoranjan against Deep Bayan of congress and Phani Bhushan of AGP to secure a seat in Barpeta.

On the political front, Manoranjan is currently serving as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly representing the Communist Party Of India(Marxist) in Sorbang Constituency. 

The political journey of Manoranjan marks his attempt to win the Sorbog assembly constituency for two consecutive terms. He contested the Sorbog Legislative Assembly elections on the CPI(M) ticket in the 2011 and 2016  assembly elections. But both the elections had marked his two consecutive defeats. In the 2014 assembly election, he secured 29,082 votes and was defeated by Ranjith Kumar Das of BJP, who secured 56,454 votes. The 2011 assembly election marked his defeat with 20,609 votes, to the BJP candidate Ranjith Kumar Das whereas  Ranjith secured 40716 votes.

Through his consistent efforts, he made it through the 2021 legislative election by securing 96,134 and defeated the opponent Shankar Chandra Dhas of BJP, who managed to secure 85,872 votes.

This 2024 Lok Sabha election will determine the extension of his political realm, where he was fielded to represent the CPI(M)party in the election. In this election, he is up against major candidates including Deep Bayan on the congress ticket and Phani Bhusan Choudhury of AGP.

The 2019 Lok Sabha election marked the victory of Abdul Kalique of Congress as he secured 645273 votes defeating the AGP opponent Kumar Deepak Dhas who secured 50486 votes. In this election, congress replaced Adul Kalique an incumbent minister with Deep Bayan for the first time.
