The Indian National Congress fielded Nakul Nath to win over the hot seat of Madhya Pradesh, the Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency. Nakul Nath is the son of former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath. The Chhindwara constituency has been the forte of Congress for the past 40 years.

He is the only Congress MP to win in Madhya Pradesh during the 2019 Lok Sabha election, since all other seats in the state were swept by the Bharatiya Janata Party. BJP has won 28 of the 29 seats. In this election, Nakul will be contesting against BJP’s Vivek ‘Bunty’ Sahu.

Recently, Nakul Nath grabbed headlines by reveal his annual income. Reportedly, his annual income has increased by 185 percentage in last five years. The report is based on the details given in his poll affidavit. He is considered to be the richest member of the outgoing Lok Sabha.

Nakul’s net worth today is worth Rs 700 crore, which is Rs 40 crore more than what he had declared in 2019. The 700 crore include Rs 64-9.51 crore of moveable properties including cash and remaining Rs 48.07 crore of immovable properties.

Nakul Nath set foot into election arena in 2019 from the Chhidwara constituency. He won the seat by defeating BJP’s Nathan Shah over the margin of 37,000 votes.

Nakul Nath and his father Kamal Nath made it to the headlines over the speculations of them joining BJP. Congress rubbished the talks and reminded that Kamal Nath’s connection with Congress is very close, and the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi even mentioned him as her “third son”, while campaigning for him in 1979. Both the father and son also declined the rumours of them joining BJP.
