Phani Bhusan Choudhury of AGP is marching towards his victory in the Barpeta constituency as he has secured 6,71,299 votes so far pushing behind Deep Bayan of Congress.

As the election final results are about to pop up in hours, the numbers so far released have confirmed the victory of the BJP ally AGP in the Barpeta constituency of Assam, where Phani Bhusan Choudhury had secured  6,71,299 votes so far, pushing Deep Bayan of Congress with 4,94,442 votes to the second position so far.

Phani Bhusan Choudhury representing the Asom Gana Parishad party, an ally of the NDA alliance in the Barpeta constituency had made entry in the parliamentary election through this 2024 election. He also had a distinct record of representing the Bongaigaon constituency since 1985. His 35-year political journey marked his distinct record of representing the Bangaigaon constituency for the 8th consecutive time in the Assam Legislative Assembly since 1985.

Looking at its political history,  Barpeta has witnessed the victory of Abdul Khaleque of Congress in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the entry of Phani Bhusan in the Lok Sabha election has created a change in the political environment of the Barpeta constituency of Assam. The congress had fielded Deep Bayan in the constituency replacing the then sitting MP Abdul Khaleque, followed by his resignation.
