General elections are expected to be held in April and May, and political parties and the media have already started their preparations for the biggest battle unfolding in Indian politics. Rumors have begun to circulate, and the latest talking point is none other than Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee. The “Gangs of Wasseypur” and “The Family Man” actor, however, was quick to respond to the fake news released by an online portal on their X handle.

The fake news claimed that Manoj Bajpayee, born in Bettiah in West Champaran of Bihar, would be the Opposition candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from West Champaran constituency. The X handle of “News Arena India” stated, “Bihar Buzz – Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee is likely to contest the Lok Sabha election from West Champaran Lok Sabha constituency as an opposition alliance candidate. Regardless of the opposition candidate, BJP will win this constituency.”

The actor, famous for his quick wit, promptly responded and posted his comment on X itself after reposting the media house”s post: “So tell me, who said this or did it come as a dream last night? You may say…”

The West Champaran Lok Sabha constituency is currently represented by BJP”s Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal. Dr. Jaiswal, a former state president of the party, has been winning from the constituency since 2009.

The West Champaran constituency has six assembly constituencies under it, including Bettiah, the birthplace of Manoj Bajpayee; others are Nautan, Chanpatia, Raxaul, Sugauli, and Narkatiya, out of which four are currently held by the BJP, and the rest are held by RJD.

In the last general election, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 39 out of the total 40 seats. During that time, the NDA included Nitish Kumar”s JDU, which secured 16 seats. JDU later separated from the NDA and is now part of the Lalu Prasad Yadav-led Mahagathbandhan. Nitish Kumar is the chief minister of Bihar.

The only seat the Opposition alliance won last year was Kishanganj, where Mohammad Jawed of the Congress won the elections.

The acclaimed actor is currently waiting for the release of his black comedy crime thriller “Killer Soup”. The series will be streamed on Netflix from January 11.
